Notice!  —  The above information about the difference before and after the July, 2023 change is to show that if you attempt to get information about The TOEFL Exam from any other source — it is, very likely, out-of-date and not accurate.  Luckily — The TOEFL Excellence Training system, and “The Teacher” have all the information that you need to know about The TOEFL Exam (so there is no need to go elsewhere for your TOEFL information).  😉

| TOEFL Excellencehe Listening Section of The TOEFL Exam is the second section that you will encounter.  This section is meant to mimic two different types of situations that a person attending an English-Speaking University would encounter.

| TOEFL Excellencehe first type of situation is the “Lecture”.  This is meant to mimic a typical class-room or lecture-hall setting.  The type of material given in the lectures and the questions that follow will be very-much the same as the Reading Passages in The Reading Section.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO STUDY ANY SUBJECTS TO PREPARE FOR THESE LECTURES!!!  —  It would be nearly impossible to study all of the possible subjects that MIGHT be on the exam.  And this would not be mimicking an authentic situation.  A person does not study some subject BEFORE going to University.  So this section does not test what you already know — it tests your ability to learn from a spoken source!

| TOEFL Excellenceven though the organization that created & administers The Exam refers to the necessary skills tested in The Listening Section as, “Academic Listening Skillls” — the second type of recording that you will hear — the “Conversations” — are not really “Academic” in nature.  Instead, these Conversations are meant to mimic the types of “every-day life” situations that a person would experience while at University.

  • Speaking With A Library Assistant
  • Speaking With A Student Advisor
  • Speaking With A Professor (One-On-One)
  • Speaking With A Fellow Student

| TOEFL Excellences with the “Lectures” — the types of Questions that follow the “Conversations” will be very-much the same as the types of Questions that you receive in The Reading Section.
