The Four Sections Of The TOEFL iBT Exam

| TOEFL Excellencehe TOEFL iBT Exam is made up of Four Distinct Sections — all used for the purpose of testing one’s ability in the four different — but related — Language Skills:

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing

| TOEFL Excellenceach section tests a persons ability to:  ComprehendIntegrate& Utilize various English Skills — in order to function in a University-type situation, with a focus on American English.

| TOEFL Excellenceurrently (until July, 2023) — the entire Exam takes between 3-4 hours.  After July, 2023 — the exam will be shortened to only 2 hours.  And — unlike similar exams — all sections of the exam are completed on the same day.

— In July, 2023 — The TOEFL Exam will be changing AGAIN (it also had a major change in 2019).  The exam will be shortened from between 3-4 hours, down to only 2 hours long.  The only other change is that one of the Writing Tasks will be changing.  They say that it is a “New” Question in The Speaking Section, but this is not necessarily true.  It is really just an improvement on one of the existing Tasks.

(ETS, and all the other TOEFL “Experts” refer to the new task as a “Writing Question” — but it is not a “Question”…  It is a “Task” which CONTAINS a Question.  Which actually shows that they are not necessarily “Experts” if they can not tell the difference between a Question and a Task.)  🤣

Because Of This — Any & ALL TOEFL Text-Books;  MOST (potentially ALL) other TOEFL Courses;  and MANY TOEFL Videos that you find on-line will be obsolete, or at-least not completely true or relevant.  However — TOEFL Excellence is ALREADY Up-To-Date (which you have already seen examples of in previous lessons.)  😎
