The Reading Passages & Audio Files
In The TOEFL Speaking Section

TOEFL Speaking Section

| TOEFL Excellences you know — there will be 4 different Tasks in The Speaking Section.  For many of the Tasks, you will have both a Reading Passage & an Audio File that you are supposed to speak about.  For one of the Tasks — you will only listen to an Audio file, and then speak about the topic presented in it.

Notice!  —  As with many of the Tasks in The TOEFL Exam — these Tasks mimic very common situations that one will experience while at University;  Situations which you have probably already experienced many times in your life so far — even if only in your native language.

| TOEFL Excellenceor The “Independent” Task — you will both read a short Passage that contains the topic that you must speak about, and you will hear the same Passage spoken in your headphones.  There is no difference between the words in The Reading Passage and the words in The Audio File.

| TOEFL Excellenceor most of The “Integrated” Tasks — you will have different types of Reading Passages (which will not be read to you in The Audio File) — and then you will listen to a different, but related, Audio File.

| TOEFL Excellenceor the final “Integrated” Task — you will not have a Reading Passage.  You will only listen to an Audio File, and then you will speak about the information in The Audio File.

      • Read A Short Notice / Listen To A Conversation
      • Read A Short Text Listen To A Short Lecture
      • Listen To A Lecture

| TOEFL Excellencehe Conversations & Lectures in this Section are very similar to those experienced in The Listening Section — but The Reading Passages are much shorter than those that are found in The Reading Section.

| TOEFL Excellences for the structure of the Audio File for the final “Integrated Task” — it is basically a spoken version of a the type of Reading Passage you would find in The Reading Section of The Exam.  It could be a/an:

      • Explanation
      • Point Of View
      • Historical Account

| TOEFL Excellencend as for the subject-matter of these Lectures — they are also very similar.  They are usually about something…

      • Scientific  —  (Biology, Geology, Sociology, etc.)
      • Literary  —  (a Person, Period, or Style of Classical Literature)
      • Artistic  —  (a Person, Period, or Style of Artistic Expression)
      • Social  —  (any modern Social Issue)

| TOEFL Excellencehe examples, above, are very commonly-used — but the topics of The Lecture are not limited to only these possibilities.  They could be about ANYTHING that you would take a class about in a first-year university class.

Remember!!!  —  You do NOT need to study these subjects before taking The TOEFL Exam.  Doing-so would almost-certainly be a waste of your time, as it would be impossible to know what subject-matter will be on The Exam.

The Reading Passages And Audio Files...

Once again  —  you can see that the Types of Reading Passages and Audio Files are very-much like the Reading Passages in The TOEFL Reading Section.  You do NOT need to study these types of subjects in order to prepare for The TOEFL Exam.  You only need to be able to comprehend the English in The Reading Passage.  😎
